  11. You have just launched version 0.1 (demonstration version) of 
  12. SOFT_TOOLS, one of the neatest little software productivity 
  13. tools you will ever use. SOFT_TOOLS aids you in drawing many 
  14. of the standard software engineering diagrams:
  15.  
  16.          Data Flow Diagrams, Nassi-Schneiderman charts, 
  17.          State Maps, Data-Dictionary syntax diagrams,
  18.                                     Message sequence charts, Structure charts, etc....
  19.  
  20. Furthermore, this tool keeps these diagrams in a LEVELLED
  21. structure.  This means that you can double click on a bubble
  22. in a DFD and the coresponding lower level DFD will pop up.
  23.  
  24. Diagrams can be augmented with text, Pseudo-Code, or other
  25. diagrams.  The Tool even cross correlates Data Dictionary
  26. elements with DFDs, Flow Charts, Pseudo code, etc....

  28. This tool is brand new, and its scope is continually
  29. expanding.  One possible expansion path consists of creating
  30. a software workstation which could be networked to host
  31. computers such as VAXes....
  32.  
  33. Version 0.1 of the program is Public domain, and free.  You
  34. may do whatever you want with it.  However, since it is free,
  35. its capabilities are severely limited.  It consists only of
  36. the first screen of the real program -- the desktop.  Yet
  37. by playing with its capabilities, you will get an idea of
  38. what the real program can do.

  40. When SOFT_TOOLS version 1.0 is released it will be a powerful
  41. tool, and will therefore sell for a powerful price.  However
  42. from now until July 1, 1986, you can become a charter member
  43. of the SOFT_TOOLS user group for $25.  This special membership
  44. entitles you to a fully supported copy of SOFT_TOOLS version
  45. 1.0 (when it is released) and a full year of free upgrades. 
  46. It also entitles you to special discount rates for future 
  47. ugrades and new products.  As a member you will also recieve 
  48. occasional newsletters, and pre-releases showing the
  49. development status of SOFT_TOOLS, and other products.

  51. The source code for version 0.1 (this version right here)
  52. is available for $25.  It features an application skeleton
  53. which can be used in any application simply by linking it
  54. in.  It handles events, menus, windows, desk accessories,
  55. fonts, etc....   It is really, really useful.

  57. The source code also contains alot of very useful utilities
  58. for maniupulating icons, and other graphic structures, 
  59. handling the dimming and un-dimming of menu entries in a 
  60. rational way, and even a little debugger.

  62. There is also a very neat set of memory management utilities
  63. that make the problem of writing linked structures to the 
  64. disk a snap.

  66. The development system was a 512K mac with an external drive,
  67. running Aztec C version 1.06G.
